Discover Vin Jaune
Vin Jaune is a unique white wine from the Jura region, made exclusively from the Savagnin grape variety. This wine is renowned worldwide for its exceptional aging process and distinct flavor profile, making it a rare jewel of French winemaking.
Terroir and Characteristics
The Vin Jaune terroir features limestone soils and a temperate climate conducive to slow, complex maturation. Following fermentation, the wine ages in oak barrels for a minimum of six years and three months without topping up, allowing a natural yeast film called the “voile” to develop. This voile protects the wine from oxidation while imparting its signature flavors.
Wine Profile
Vin Jaune boasts an intense aromatic profile with notes of walnut, curry, hazelnut, and green apple. This dry yet powerful wine exhibits an exceptional saline tension and near-eternal aging potential. It captivates with its balance of elegance, strength, and freshness, making it an outstanding gastronomic wine.
Food Pairings
Vin Jaune is the legendary companion to mature Comté cheese, Bresse chicken in cream sauce, and hearty mushroom or truffle dishes from the Franche-Comté region. Its aromatic intensity also pairs delightfully with blue cheeses and subtly spiced exotic dishes.
