To the eye
A complex colour, a brick-red hue with orange and brick-red highlights in the glass, reflecting three decades of ageing in the bottle. The colour remains crystal-clear despite its age.

Nose
A highly complex tertiary bouquet. The fresh fruit has completely faded, giving way to notes of undergrowth, fallen leaves, aged leather and cherries preserved in brandy. A hint of mushrooms (truffles, chanterelles) and sweet spices lends a captivating autumnal depth.

Palate
The attack is lively, driven by that ‘laser-like’ acidity typical of 1996, which keeps the wine on its toes. The texture is delicate, almost ethereal, with tannins that are completely integrated and silky. It is a lace-like wine, of great elegance, offering a sensation of infused ‘rock juice’.

A delicate wine that calls for delicate dishes: a fricassee of wild mushrooms, lightly spiced small game birds, or simply a mature, very dry goat’s cheese.
