To the eye
A very attractive ruby colour, clear and luminous, with a lovely transparency typical of the Pinot Noir grape variety and the elegance of the 2021 vintage.

Nose
Very expressive, spring-like and delicate. It opens with a vibrant bouquet of fresh red berries (morello cherry, raspberry, redcurrant). As it breathes, superb floral notes of peony and fresh rose emerge, subtly underscored by a light hint of sweet spices (white pepper).

Palate
The attack is lively, direct and full of energy. The wine offers a supple, easy-drinking texture, underpinned by wonderfully crisp fruit. The tannins are very fine, supple and elegant, characteristic of a gentle extraction process perfectly managed by the estate. The finish is refreshing, prolonged by a lovely tangy acidity and a remarkably savoury mineral note.

Pairing
The elegance and finesse of this Savigny-lès-Beaune call for flavourful dishes that aren’t too overpowering. It will be perfect with fine roast poultry (guinea fowl, free-range chicken), a veal chop with mushrooms, a pork fillet or a fine selection of charcuterie. When it comes to cheese, opt for fairly mild washed-rind varieties such as Reblochon, Chaource or Cîteaux. Serve slightly chilled, between 15°C and 16°C.

Aging potential
The 2021 vintage, with its infused, crisp and easy-drinking profile, offers the immense advantage of being extremely appealing even in its youth. Whilst it will provide great pleasure to drink right now, its lovely, backbone-like acidity will allow it to age elegantly in the cellar for 5 to 8 years.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Is this Savigny suitable if I prefer delicate reds to powerful wines?

Yes: its crunchy fruit, floral character, and delicate balance all point to finesse. It is better suited to those seeking freshness and elegance than to those looking for power.

Why choose this 2021 rather than a very sunny Burgundy vintage?

Here, 2021 marks a return to a fresh, easy-drinking, and very low-alcohol style after several sunnier years. It is a good choice if you want to prioritize a light expression and crunchy fruit rather than seek a sun-ripened character.

Could its freshness make it austere?

The description also highlights a roundness and generosity linked to the Aux Clous terroir. The vintage’s freshness is therefore accompanied by an inviting character, without diminishing the wine’s delicacy.

What occasion is this magnum suited to?

The 150 cl format is ideal for sharing with a group. Its appeal lies in bringing people together over a fine, fresh Burgundy red rather than in offering a showy wine.

Is the 2021 frost a reason to rule out this wine?

The frost severely reduced yields, but the description emphasizes the success of the grapes that survived. When choosing this bottle, the relevant guide is its stated style—floral, crunchy, and balanced—rather than the difficult weather conditions of the year alone.
