The Bandol appellation is located in the Provence wine region of southeastern France. It is renowned for its rich, full-bodied red wines, made mainly from Mourvèdre grapes, with Grenache, Cinsault and Carignan added. The 1996 vintage in the region was generally considered good, with weather conditions favorable to grape ripening, producing well-balanced, well-structured wines with good ageing potential.
