Discover Santenay

The Santenay appellation is located at the southern end of the Côte de Beaune in Burgundy. Known for the diversity of its terroirs and excellent value for money, Santenay produces both red and white wines that perfectly reflect the authentic and approachable character of Burgundy.

Terroir and Characteristics

The Santenay terroir is defined by clay-limestone soils, sometimes strewn with rolled pebbles, under a temperate climate ideal for the cultivation of emblematic Burgundy grape varieties. The red wines are primarily made from Pinot Noir, while the white wines are crafted from Chardonnay.

Wine Profile

Santenay reds show a bright ruby color and reveal aromas of red and black fruits such as cherry, raspberry, and blackberry, complemented by spicy, floral, and occasionally smoky notes. On the palate, they offer a fine structure with supple tannins and balanced freshness, characteristic of a full-bodied red wine that remains elegant. The whites are noted for their liveliness, with aromas of citrus, white flowers, white-fleshed fruits, as well as hints of hazelnut or butter depending on aging. Their palate is taut, mineral, and delivers a long finish.

Food Pairings

Santenay red wines pair wonderfully with grilled meats, roasted poultry, slow-cooked dishes, or mild cheeses such as Brie and aged Comté. Whites are perfect with sauced fish, seafood, or poultry with sauce, highlighting their freshness and finesse in harmony with these dishes.
