Discover Château de Pommard

Château de Pommard, established in 1726, is one of the most iconic and spectacular estates in Burgundy. Located in the heart of the village of Pommard, this prestigious domaine is renowned for its exceptional jewel: the Clos Marey-Monge, a 20-hectare single vineyard protected by a historic wall and classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This unique terroir, composed of seven parcels with varied clay-limestone soils, produces wines of rare complexity and depth characteristic of great Côte de Beaune wines.

Terroir and Characteristics

The terroir of Clos Marey-Monge features deeply varied soils mixing clay, limestone and marls that promote a refined and powerful expression of Pinot Noir, the emblematic grape variety of the region. Under the stewardship of the Carabello-Baum family, owners since 2014, the estate has shifted to biodynamic viticulture certified by Demeter, aiming to preserve soil health and vine vitality. This environmentally respectful approach results in wines that authentically express the character of their terroir.

Wine Profile

Château de Pommard wines are distinguished by their natural power, elegant structure, and fine texture. They offer a complex aromatic palette combining red ripe fruit notes, spices, and delicate undergrowth nuances. Thanks to precise vinification and careful aging, these Pinot Noir wines express the typicity of Pommard, renowned for their aging potential and remarkable balance between strength and subtlety.

Food Pairings

Château de Pommard wines perfectly complement gourmet dishes such as Boeuf Bourguignon, duck breast with figs, Époisses cheese, or game birds in sauce. Their tannic structure and rich aromatics enhance these dishes, delivering a harmonious tasting experience.
