To the eye
A mature ruby colour, with brick-red and mahogany hues, indicating that the wine has developed beautifully.
Nose
Highly complex, with aromas of undergrowth, leather, prunes and morello cherries steeped in brandy. A hint of cocoa and blond tobacco emerges with aeration.
Palate
Smooth and mellow. The tannins are fully integrated, giving it a velvety texture. The finish is long, with notes of dried fruit and truffle.
Pairing
A duck breast with figs, a venison stew, or a mature cheese such as an aged Comté or an Époisses.
Aging potential
At its peak. It’s perfect to drink now, but can still hold its own at this level of maturity for another 3 to 5 years.
