To the eye
A deep, intense ruby colour with purplish highlights.
Nose
A complex bouquet of dark fruits (blackberry, blueberry) and liquorice, with a hint of violet and a touch of pepper.
Palate
The attack is full-bodied and velvety. The wine is dense, underpinned by exceptionally fine-grained tannins. This is a Gevrey that combines power and elegance, with a very lingering finish.
Pairing
A lovely grilled rib steak, duck with cranberries or a strong-flavoured cheese (Époisses).
Aging potential
It will be superb from 2028–2030 onwards and has an ageing potential of 15 to 20 years.
