BOURGOGNE COTE D'OR ROUGE
The Domaine Jean FOURNIER covers some 16 hectares in the commune of Marsannay, in the Côte-de-Nuits region. It is owned by the heir grandson, Jean FOURNIER, who took over the reins of the estate in 2001. He decided to orientate the estate's agriculture towards a more nature-friendly approach. He opted for horse-drawn ploughing in the old vines and pruning that respected the sap flow of the vines, alternating the position of the rod from one year to the next. It was thanks to these practices that he obtained organic certification in 2008. This special treatment of the vines ensures long-lasting wines and incomparable finesse.

Bourgogne Côte d'Or, a new AOC recognized since 2017, is more restrictive with lower yields, guaranteeing the origin of the grapes from the Côte d'Or department, 100% Pinot Noir... which wasn't the case before! This cuvée is made from 80% of the estate's vines, from different climates in the Marsannay appellation: Caillée, Champ Forey, Longues-pièces, Perches, Platières, complemented by young vines under 20 years old from Clos du Roy and Les Longeroies. Most of the vines are located at the foot and bottom of the slopes, facing east/southeast, on Bresse marl and cone gravel.
