Tasting

To the eye

A very light, translucent ruby colour, with raspberry or grenadine hues typical of the grape variety. There may be a slight cloudiness, a hallmark of a wine bottled without extensive filtration to preserve its full body.

Nose

An expressive, lively and intensely fruity bouquet. It bursts forth with notes of tangy red berries (redcurrant, fresh raspberry, cranberry). As it opens up, delicate floral hints (rose, peony) mingle with that very subtle wild, spicy note (white pepper, noble reduction) so characteristic of Pupillin wines.

Palate

The attack is a model of richness and directness. It is the quintessential ‘glouglou’ wine, with a thirst-quenching structure and crisp fruit. The tannins are virtually non-existent, resulting in a smooth, easy-drinking texture. The finish is clean, prolonged by lovely mineral tension and a sense of pure fruit that inevitably tempts you to pour yourself another glass.

Pairing

With its delicate, crisp and easy-drinking profile, this Jura red is the ideal companion for a convivial gathering. It pairs wonderfully with a lovely platter of local charcuterie (Morteau sausage, Jésus de Morteau), a country-style terrine, summer barbecues or roast white meats. When it comes to cheese, a young, fruity Comté or a Morbier will make for a perfect regional pairing. It must be served slightly chilled, at around 13–14°C. A brief 15-minute decanting may be beneficial if it shows a slight reduction upon opening.

Aging potential

This 2022 vintage has been crafted to deliver immediate pleasure. Its vibrant fruit and lively character are best savoured in their vibrant youth, ideally within 3 to 5 years of the vintage, to fully appreciate its energy.
