Discover Côte-Rôtie

The Côte-Rôtie appellation is one of the oldest and most prestigious in the northern Rhône Valley. Located on the right bank of the Rhône River, it covers the communes of Ampuis, Saint-Cyr-sur-le-Rhône, and Tupin-et-Semons in the Rhône department. Côte-Rôtie wines are exclusively red wines made primarily from the Syrah grape, occasionally blended with up to 20% Viognier, a white grape that adds elegance and aromatic complexity.

Terroir and Characteristics

The steep terraced slopes of Côte-Rôtie benefit from exceptional sun exposure, which gives the name 'Côte-Rôtie' meaning 'sun-warmed slope'. The soils composed of schist and mica provide optimal concentration with controlled yields and an intense expression of the terroir. This unique combination offers wines with an elegant and complex structure, featuring aromas of black fruits, violet, spices, leather, and truffle.

Wine Profile

Côte-Rôtie wines are full-bodied red wines, refined and powerful, capable of aging from 10 to 20 years or more depending on the vintage. Their silky tannins and rich aromatics evolve over time to deep and subtle notes, delivering a unique and noble tasting experience.

Food Pairings

These wines pair wonderfully with rich and savory dishes: grilled or stewed red meats, game, slow-cooked dishes, and hard aged cheeses such as Comté or Beaufort. Their balance of power and finesse makes them ideal for gourmet meals.
