To the eye
A perfectly crystalline, clear and brilliant colour. The wine flows beautifully, leaving fine tears on the sides of the glass – a sign of a fine concentration of fruit essential oils.

Nose
An immediate burst of aroma. It feels as though you’ve plunged your nose into a basket of ripe pears. It’s fresh and light, with notes of juicy fruit flesh, a hint of zest and a very subtle floral nuance (pear blossom). There’s no harsh alcohol burn to mask the fruit.

Palate
The attack is silky and exceptionally smooth. The texture is almost velvety, coating the palate with flavours of sweet, juicy pear. The mid-palate is well-balanced, striking a harmony between the richness of the fruit and the purity of the distillation. The finish is long and lingering, leaving an impression of minty freshness and pure fruit.

Pairing
Classic: As a digestif, served in a ‘tulip’ glass or a small frosted glass to concentrate the aromas. Fine dining: Delicious with pear sorbet, Bresse blue cheese (for the sweet-and-savoury contrast) or a Bourdaloue tart. Cocktail: As a base for a reimagined ‘French Mule’ made with a high-quality ginger beer.

Aging potential
Like most high-quality white spirits, it has an indefinite shelf life. It does not necessarily improve in the bottle (as it no longer matures in oak), but nor does it deteriorate if stored upright and away from light.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Does the word “MAGNUM” mean that I’m choosing a 150 cl bottle?

No: despite this term in the name, the stated volume is 100 cl. So when choosing your size, go by the volume listed rather than the “MAGNUM” designation.

What can be compared between this product and SAB’S “La Poire” in 50 cl?

The only explicitly stated difference is the volume: 100 cl here, compared with 50 cl for the other product. The information provided does not support attributing different tasting profiles to them.

Does its classification in Burgundy make it a wine to serve with a meal?

No: this is a Williams pear brandy, not a wine. The regional classification should therefore not guide your choice as it would for a Burgundy white or red.

Is this a product to consider if I’m looking for notes associated with wood?

The description highlights the aromas of Williams pear and the distillation process, without mentioning barrel ageing or woody notes. So it is not a choice to make based on the promise of a woody character.

Can I rely on this product page to choose a brandy defined by ageing?

No age or ageing period is specified. The documented appeal of this spirit lies in the selection of fully ripe pears and the aim of faithfully expressing the fruit, rather than in development over time.
